The winner of De Nieuwe Lichting 2014 presents ten fresh songs that feel more intimate.

Djurre de Haan, also known as AWKWARD i, is a talented singer-songwriter who released his debut album I Really Should Whisper in 2009. His music can be discribed as intense alt folk, sometimes toned-down and at other times flaring. Magnificent intro`s combined with gripping poetry and melodic depth; varied, subtle, complex and plain gorgeous music.

Groovy and Indie snit

Arnout and Sander Brinks of Tangarine have been the most well-known singing twin-brothers in the Netherlands for a decade. They sing as only identical twins can. De Volkskrant (a big dutch newspaper) says “Singing together, so beautiful that it seems to come from one mouth instead of two,”.

Walden is a psychedelic indie band hailing from The Netherlands, where they won the hearts of many at one of the biggest festivals, Pinkpop.

Dans Dans is a Belgian band known for their unique blend of jazz, rock, and experimental music. The band was formed in 2012 and consists of three talented musicians; Bert Dockx on Guitar and vocals, Fred Lyenn Jacques on Bass guitar and Steven Cassiers on Drums and electronics.

YUKO is a band from Ghent (Belgium) with Kristof Deneijs as key figure. The band’s debut record ‘For Times When Ears Are Sore, released in 2008 on Debonair recordings, immediately won the hearts of critics both in Belgium and abroad.
